Job Description

Punchdrunk is seeking an Assistant Stage Manager to support the running of The Burnt City. The successful candidate will work within the stage management team to provide effective stage management of the show and performers, contributing to show reports, and reporting and reacting within the show environment to ensure safe and consistent delivery of the show.

Unlike a traditional theatre show, there is no accessible backstage area, so the Assistant Stage Management team are on the show floor with the cast. The role involves extensive pre-show prop setting and shout checking. During the show the Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for spotting safety, problem-solving missing or broken props and contributing notes to the show report.

Candidates should possess outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to maintain a calm and positive attitude in the busy working environment of a large-scale international production. The Assistant Stage Managers will form part of the communications hub for the daily running of the show. They will gather notes and feed into systems designed alongside the Senior Stage Manager and Deputy Stage Managers.

Given the nature of the performance, Assistant Stage Managers will be required to stand and walk for sustained periods of time, particularly throughout the duration of the 3 hour performance.

This could be a great opportunity for recent graduates who have an interest in working in immersive theatre.

Deadline for applications: 12pm on Monday 13th February. Complete the application form here, including your CV and cover letter.
