WHY ARE YOU CALLED PUNCHDRUNK?

This is the way we want to make our audiences feel.

HOW DO WE DESCRIBE OUR WORK?

Punchdrunk’s work is often described as immersive. Although we acknowledge this term and its importance within contemporary theatre, we prefer to use terms such as site sympathetic and experiential. The use of these terms distinguish it from the familiar conventions of site-specific, promenade and traditional theatre. The physical freedom to explore the sensory and imaginative world of a Punchdrunk show makes for a unique, singularly intense and personal experience.  Each show is different and complex, and often it can be hard to define the work. We anticipate future work may need to be described in new terms not yet listed here.

HOW CAN I HELP SUPPORT PUNCHDRUNK?

Punchdrunk works across a range of sectors supporting many areas of public benefit in the UK. Individuals or companies interested in making a donation to support Punchdrunk’s charitable activities can contact the charity’s Development team here

HOW CAN I BUY TICKETS FOR YOUR NEXT PRODUCTION?

As Punchdrunk doesn't operate its own box office, tickets are usually available from partner organisations, either online, telephone or both. Ticket availability is announced on this website with box office contact information, in the press and in partners' print media and websites.

Supporters of Punchdrunk's charitable activities (Punchdrunk's Keyholders) enjoy priority booking wherever possible. You can find out more about the charity's scheme here.

HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT PUNCHDRUNK'S PLANS AND FUTURE PRODUCTIONS?

To be among the first to hear about the company's forthcoming activities, please sign up for our mailing list. We send very occasional emails. However, this method does not ensure advance alerts about productions or tickets.

HOW CAN I WORK FOR PUNCHDRUNK OR WORK ON YOUR NEXT PRODUCTION?

I'M A PERFORMER. HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT AUDITIONS?

ARE THERE ANY RESOURCES ABOUT THE COMPANY'S WORK AVAILABLE?

A book about the company's creative processes is currently in development. A chapter about Punchdrunk can be found in (Syn)aesthetics: Redefining Visceral Performance, published by Palgrave Macmillan, 2009.

In 2015, Punchdrunk published The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, a book containing a collection of over 130 photographs taken of The Drowned Man by Julian Abrams. You can find out more about the book here.

CAN YOU ASSIST ME WITH COLLECTING RESEARCH FOR MY STUDIES?

Punchdrunk is not currently able to assist students in their studies or general research due to the volume of enquiries we receive and our limited administrative resources. Information about the company's work can be found in the work sections of this website, and please refer to the above FAQ question 'Are there any resources about the company's work available' for details of academic resources. There is also a large amount of writing on the company and its work online.

CAN I INTERVIEW A MEMBER OF THE COMPANY?

We're sorry that limited resources and pressures of time make it difficult for members of the core company to engage in individual interviews. Please send direct enquiries via the Contact page.

CAN I OBSERVE REHEARSALS / TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS / VIDEO?

Punchdrunk does not open its rehearsals to the public. The creative process requires a safe environment where performers can experiment and take risks without being watched. Unauthorised photography and filming of any element of the company's work is not permitted under any circumstances.

I'M A TEACHER/LECTURER. ARE THERE ANY RESOURCES I CAN REFER TO ABOUT YOUR PROCESS?
